Hey deviantARTers, I have co-written and illustrated a book on dinosaur art which you might like. Find out more about it here: irregularbooks.co

Also, just a reminder, I don't upload to dA anymore, you should visit my site johnconway.co for details on how to keep up with my latest stuff.

I have made a new website at johnconway.co , and that will get my top-priority updates, which will be tooted via the twitters. My palaeo stuff will be mixed in with my vectors in a great big mess, and that's the way I likes it.

I might check in to dA every now and again, but it no longer suits my wants. If you want to see my new stuff, the Twitters is where I'm at.

Heck, I'll probably never tweet anything, so you've got nothing to lose!

So, I log into dA, and have one thousand and something messages... 130 and something are Snow-Spider favourites. I did Snow-Spider when I was 23, and I can't help but be a bit irritated at how I've yet to all-round beat it with something that has more depth. But here's the thing, sometimes the simplest things are the best, and artists get too hung up in sophistication. I've found that as a get older, I like songs more than bands. Just, you know, good songs. Not because they symbolise they break out of moulds, or signal a new wave of something, or are of a a particular worth sub-genre or whatever, but just because they are good.

Maybe Snow-Spider is just good. Maybe in a sappy, silly sort of way, but still, good. Okay, self obsessed rambling over:

I have more Felt Mountain stuff on the way. Coming up to Utopia, which I hope to make very good indeed.

Both my browser and I forgot my dA password. This is a sign dA is no longer my internet home, which is a shame, because in many ways I now feel (internet) homeless.

Sooo, if any of your still remember me, I've done some vector art every now and again. I probably always will. But my interests have moved on. I'm now into programming in a big way--javscriptin' and canvas are my thang.  I would like to use this with my artwork, artgames maybe. Gamearts. Garts. Something like that. Unfortunately, I cannot upload this (theoretical) stuff to dA, because it only allows Flash. I cannot stand Flash the IDE, and don't want a substantial part of my creative output locked up in its dying format (it worries me as it is that virtually all my art is in AI and PSD formats).

I miss the community sort of feeling here, but I just don't see how dA as a platform can fulfil my needs anymore. So I am not sure what to do. I might consider Facebook as my main outlet, but, urg, Facebook. A Tumblr blog is way too hipsterish, and won't do what I want anyway. Twitter? Urg, Twitter.

Hrmph.

I'm working on a Facebook thing so you'll probably see more of me there: www.facebook.com/nyctopterus
Say dA and I'll friend you up.

[Edit: I'm not actually going to abandon dA completely, I'm not a "leaving 4evah" type]
