This is the first in a series of drawings inspired by Goldfrapp's Felt Mountain (which you can listen to here). Track No. 1, Lovely Head.
Now, normally I find quoting song lyrics in descriptions rather naff, but since it is rather the point:
It starts in my belly Then up to my heart Into my mouth I can't keep it shut Do you recognize the smell Is that how you tell Us apart I fool myself To sleep and dream Nobody's there No-one but me So cool You're hardly there Why cant this be killing you Frankenstein would want your mind Your lovely head Your lovely head
If you haven't heard Felt Mountain, but like my art, you're really missing out. Although I made my first "crystaline" retro-futuristic drawings before I discovered Goldfrapp, it's an almost perfect stylistic counterpart to my work.
I once considered animating the entire album, but then I calculated that would take me more than a year full-time, and would also be forever in the copyright mire. So I procrastinated for a while (okay, nearly two years) -- and finally decided to do drawings instead.
this is just miraculously beautiful.. the style, the elegance.. this dark soft undertone.. i can feel this cold but familiar marble texture.. just amazing, very much worth a favourite!
i don't think there ar actually copyright issues if you are simply "inspired by" something. even titles can't really be copyrighted, that's why dozens of songs and books can have the same title by different authors, etc. besides, i bet that Goldfrapp would like your art too. this one kind of reminds me of a Remedios Varo painting.
