I know it's been around a while and I've never commented before, but I have always loved this image. I love the colours, the atmosphere, the general composition. I love silly little details like those skinny floppy feet and the bicycle against the fence, which make me smile without in any way detracting from the lovely mood. I always remember this picture as being busier than it actually is, which means you've somehow managed to suggest a whole living breathing city with just four or five, er, clarinets, which is rather impressive. And I especially like the fact that I can enjoy this without being jealous of your technique because I have no idea how vectors work and so can't appreciate the difficulty you must have had with all that detail. Neat.
Lovely idea and lovely done. In my opinion clarinets are beautiful instruments, but damn hard to play. When I was 9 I gave it a try but was hardly able to produce a single sound. Q.Q
This must be a beautiful, shiny and music-loving city.
Ha, super awesome! I used to play clarinet but now I play basoon. Oh, my goodness I miss the clarinet so much! I should probably just switch back if I can't find anyone to teach me to play basoon because I realised how much I miss playing it.
I love the colour scheme, the "glowing" lights and the composition as a whole.
But what really makes this idea come to life is the use of silhouettes, especially the sitting figure in the foreground. He is looking up in wonder at the beautiful place he is living in. A summer evening, so quiet and peaceful.
